This coin storage refill kit includes some extra items you may need for storing and displaying your coins. The elements in this kit have been specially sourced to both keep your coins safe and make them easy to view.

The kit includes 100 blank inserts where you can add details of other coins in your collection (such as errors or duplicate coins in your collection). They are pre-printed with a template for you to fill in. Each insert slides into the coin flips to sit opposite your coin, showing the details.

The sleeves and coin flips all use materials that help keep your coins safe. This refill kit is designed to work with the Australia Coins Storage Kit (including a folder, sleeves, flips, pre-printed inserts, gloves and a magnifying glass), and the Pirate Guide to Collecting Australian Coins, which helps you to identify coins in circulation and related errors.

What's included in the kit:

5 x Coin Sleeves:
  • These coin sleeves are manufactured by BCW from Polypropylene especially for coin storage.
  • Each coin sleeve holds twenty 2x2 coin flips (space for 100 coins in total).
  • Suitable for 3-ring binder folders.
  • PVC-free.

100 x 2x2 Coin Flips (2 packs of 50):

  • These 2x2 coin flips fit into the sleeves (above).
  • Each coin flip measures 2 inches by 2 inches, and holds any size Australian coin from One Cent to Fifty Cents.
  • The coin slides into one side and then the flip is folded in half. Additionally, a piece of paper with the coin information can be slid into the other side of the flip.
  • Made from Biaxially-oriented Polyethylene Terephthalate (boPET) and used in museums around the world.
  • PVC-free.

100 x Coin Information Inserts:

  • Blank inserts that are pre-printed with a template where you can write details of additional coins in your collection (such as error coins and any overflow or double-up coins).
  • These fit into the coin flips opposite each coin.
  • Laser printed on acid-free archival paper.

Materials information:

Leaving coins stacked together, in the open air, or in open cardboard cases will cause them to tarnish as contaminants in the air will react with the metals in coins. There is also the risk of physical damage.

Why no PVC? Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is the most common type of plastic that is soft and pliable. However, PVC contains chemicals that off-gasses (that ‘plastic smell’) and reacts with metals causing coins to tarnish or stick to the plastic. It’s not suitable for storage of your coin collection.

The coin sleeves are made with Polypropylene, which is a durable soft plastic. It is acid free and archival quality.

The coin flips are made from Biaxially-oriented Polyethylene Terephthalate (also known as boPET), which is a stable, archival quality plastic commonly referred to as Mylar. It contains no oils or chemicals that will react with metals and once the flip is folded over will allow very little air into the pocket. This minimises the possibility of the coin becoming tarnished.
